Transit Master Plan

The Town of LaSalle is developing a Transit Master Plan to review how transit works today and how it should evolve over the next five years. The Plan will help guide the future for LaSalle Transit services to identify better alignment of strategies and services and future opportunities to meet community needs.

In December 2025, the Town of LaSalle engaged Left Turn Right Turn, an Ontario-based firm, to lead the process to develop a Transit Master Plan. This Plan will develop the direction for transit over the next five years.

Tell us your thoughts about transit service. Take our Transit Master Plan Survey. The survey will close on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Background

Transit service has exceeded the expectations of the Town since it was introduced in 2017. More people are using transit, showing the value and need of transit service in the community. Beyond this growth, the context, relevance and possibilities of public transit have changed since the system first started. By understanding these broader changes, the Town can better align their strategies and services and anticipate future opportunities between LaSalle Transit and neighbouring systems.

What the Plan will do:

  • Review of the current transit system
  • Identify needs, challenges and gaps
  • Recommend ways to improve services
  • Ensure transit reflects the needs and priorities of residents, user groups and staff.

Next Steps

January - March 2026

Engagement Round 1

We are currently in Task 1, which focuses on understanding the current state of transit in LaSalle. To ensure that the Transit Master Plan is built upon a solid foundation, this includes gathering information and listening to the community. Community and stakeholder engagement will be key activities throughout the development of the Transit Master Plan. A range of engagement methods will be used, each designed to reach and involve specific stakeholder groups.

During Round 1: Current State and Vision, we will meet with council, staff, community groups, and the public to understand what is working and what can be improved to shape an overall vision for transit going forward. Community activities will include:

  • An in-person public session
  • An online recording
  • A public survey
  • A summary of what we learned from Round 1
